The Hertfordshire Tornadoes are recruiting!
On the 21st of January, the Hertfordshire Tornadoes, one of the UK’s premiere women’s American Football teams are offering a taster session for anyone who wants to try out this growing sport.
To mark the beginning of their new season and to coincide with the launch of the brand new This Girl Can campaign, the South’s most successful women’s team are encouraging women of all ages, shapes and sizes to get involved. Just like rugby, American Football is a sport where every body type has a purpose, and just like women’s rugby in this Country, American Football is a sport where you don’t need any experience to get involved.
Women’s American Football is growing rapidly in the U.K. with Silver Medal Success for the Great Britain Women’s team in the European Championships, and a potential World Championships on the cards this year.
The Tornadoes themselves have very recently been granted a figure just shy of £10,000 from Sport England to develop their sport in the South East, including North London, as their training sessions, hosted in Hatfield, are only 30mins out of Kings Cross.
Now’s the time to get involved with this growing sport. The iconic helmet and shoulder pads are all provided because of the money made available, anyone can get involved, and there’s even the potential to represent Great Britain. 9 Tornadoes are on the Great Britain Practice Squad, and all of their coaching staff have international experience with the Women’s and Men’s GB Teams.
More information on the Hertfordshire Tornadoes can be found at facebook.com/HertfordshireTornadoes. Their taster day on Saturday 21st January starts at 11.30am and is open to all women of 18+, regardless of experience. It is being held at the pitches at Hertfordshire Sports Village, AL10 9EU.
